Founded c. 1190, originally Catholic, now Church of Ireland (Anglican). Located an High Street, Dublin 8, beside the old city wall and near Christchurch Cathedral.
Built around 1190 by Norman settlers, shortly after the Anglo-Norman invasion. Then dedicated to St. Audoen of Rouen, a 7th-century Frankish bishop. Functioned as a parish church for both the local English-speaking settlers and some Gaelic Irish. Contained multiple chantries (side altars endowed by wealthy families), such as The Guild of St. Anne, founded 1430, one of Dublin’s wealthiest and most powerful guilds.
